To provide Receipt Roast's core features, we request the following permissions:

  • Camera / Photo Library: to scan and process receipts and transaction documents
  • Notifications: to send you spending alerts, budget nudges, and roast callouts
  • Face ID / Touch ID (optional): to secure access to your financial data within the app

2. Data Usage and Protection

Your spending and receipt data is:

  • Analyzed to provide categorized spending insights and weekly summaries
  • Used to generate budget reports and trend comparisons
  • Stored securely and associated only with your account
  • Never sold to third parties
  • Never used for advertising profiling

3. Data Collection and Usage

3.1 Data Linked to Your Identity

The following data may be collected and linked to your account:

  • Email address: used for account creation, subscription management, and product updates
  • Spending and transaction data: receipts and purchase records you submit or connect
  • Budget rules and preferences: limits, categories, and notification settings you configure

3.2 Data Not Linked to Your Identity

The following data may be collected but is not linked to your identity:

  • Usage data and product interaction (how you use app features)
  • Anonymous analytics data for app improvement
  • Crash reports and performance diagnostics

Product interaction data is collected and used solely for:

  • App functionality (authenticating users, enabling features, preventing fraud, implementing security measures)
  • Ensuring server uptime and app performance
  • Minimizing app crashes
  • Improving scalability and performance
  • Providing customer support
  • Understanding how features are used to improve the app

3.3 Payment and Subscription Data

When you subscribe to Receipt Roast, the following data may be collected depending on your subscription method:

App Store subscriptions (via Apple):

  • Payment and subscription management is handled entirely by Apple
  • We do not receive or store your payment details

Direct subscriptions (via credit card):

  • Payments are processed by Stripe — we do not store your credit card information
  • Your email address is collected for subscription management and stored securely
  • Subscription events (lookups, cancellations, refunds) are logged for fraud prevention and support

3.4 Third-Party Services

Receipt Roast uses the following third-party services:

beehiiv (waitlist and email):

  • Stores your email address when you join the waitlist
  • Used to send product updates and launch notifications
  • You can unsubscribe at any time via the link in any email

Firebase:

  • Provides authentication, crash reporting, and performance monitoring
  • Collects anonymous device and usage data
  • Used for app stability and improvement

Meta Pixel and TikTok Pixel (website only):

  • Used on certain pages of our website to measure advertising effectiveness
  • May collect browsing data such as page views
  • Not used within the app itself
  • You can opt out via your browser's privacy settings or ad preferences

All third-party data collection is:

  • Used only for app functionality, improvements, or advertising measurement
  • Not sold or shared with other parties beyond the stated purposes

Your core spending data remains:

  • Stored securely and associated only with your account
  • Never transmitted to advertisers or data brokers
  • Completely private and secure

4. Your Rights

You have the right to:

  • Delete all local data by uninstalling the app
  • Control app permissions through your device settings
  • Request deletion of any server-side data associated with your email by contacting us
  • Unsubscribe from marketing emails at any time
  • Export your spending data from within the app

5. Data Retention

  • Account and spending data is retained while your account is active
  • Upon account deletion, your data is permanently removed within 30 days
  • Subscription management data is retained for fraud prevention and support purposes
  • Anonymous analytics data may be retained in aggregated form

6. Changes to Privacy Policy

We will notify users of any material changes to this privacy policy through the app or via email. Continued use of the app following notification constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
